The short version

What happened when we tried it

The device worked. The negotiations required to insert four paws were less efficient. A cup with soft spinning bristles designed to remove evidence of the walk before it reaches your sofa. This is not essential equipment, and we refuse to pretend otherwise. But as dog purchases go, it produced a useful mix of entertainment, curiosity and genuine canine interest.

Best for

Rainy climates, light-colored rugs and dogs with negotiable boundaries.

The evidence

Good dog. Questionable purchase.

We judge products on what they do in a normal home—not what the box promises in a studio. That means watching setup time, cleanup, durability, the dog's first reaction and whether anyone still wants the thing around a week later.

The good

  • Visible before-and-after
  • Softer than it looks
  • Useful in wet weather

The nonsense

  • Four separate negotiations
  • Requires water and cleanup
  • Noise can be a concern
